Description
English: Portrait in the Calle de Sor Francisca Armendáriz in Cartagena (Spain) of La Pelela, a popular character of the city. The work was created in 2021 by the artist Clara Ledo as part of the municipal divulgation project "Huellas de mujer. Cartagena en femenino".

The text that accompanies the portrait reads:

María del Carmen Navarro Rodríguez. She was born in Cartagena in 1935. She was an endearing popular character in Cartagena. She was simple and hard-working in the different sectors where she made a living: the sale of fish to her loyal customers, the lottery and the concession of chairs during the Holy Week.
She is part of the unwritten history of our city. Her vociferous and blissful way of speaking, her involvement in daily life, and her supporting and helping to others make her part of the memory and memories of the period. She passed away in 2016.

Español: Retrato en la calle de Sor Francisca Armendáriz de Cartagena (España) de La Pelela, un personaje popular de la ciudad. La obra fue creada en 2021 por la artista Clara Ledo como parte del proyecto municipal de divulgación «Huellas de mujer. Cartagena en femenino».

En el texto que acompaña al retrato se lee:

María del Carmen Navarro Rodríguez. Nació en Cartagena en 1935. Fue un personaje popular entrañable en Cartagena. Sencilla y trabajadora en los diferentes sectores donde se buscaba la vida: la venta de pescado a su fiel clientela, la lotería y la concesión de sillas en Semana Santa.
Forma parte de la historia no escrita de nuestra ciudad. Su forma de hablar vociferante y dicharachera, su involucración en la vida cotidiana, el apoyo y la ayuda a los demás hace que forme parte de la memoria y los recuerdos de la época. Falleció en 2016.
