Sus origenes empezaron durante el dominio andalusí de la zona, habiendo sido llamada la ciudad originalmente como البسيط Al-Basit, en árabe "El Llano", en alusión al carácter planiforme de la geografía del lugar. En gramática histórica, Montearagón aparece escrito en latín como Montaragón |
