Summary
[edit]DescriptionLa Madonna di Pietranico (2018).png |
English: La Madonna di Pietranico is a terracotta statue from the 16th century, originally placed in a small chapel (chiesetta) in the Italian town of Pietranico. The chapel was hard hit by the 1915 Abruzzo eathquake and was eventually demolished in 1925. The statue had also suffered damage and it was moved to the museum of Abbazia di S. Clemente a Casauria and restored. When that museum was closed, it was moved to l'Aquila, where it was damaged again, this time by the 2009 earthquake. After that, it was restored under supervision of the Italian American Museum in New York and in 2011 moved to the Museo Casa D'annunzio in Pescara. Finally, in 2013 it returned to Pietranico, where it can be found in the church of San Rocco.
