Description
English: The historic Buzzini Building located at 1100-4 Adams Street in downtown La Grande, Oregon. This building is located within the La Grande Commercial Historic District, on the National Register of Historic Places.

The plaque on the building reads:

Paul Buzzini was a Swiss miner who arrived in New Orleans in 1848. From there he operated a grocery business in St. Louis and Keokuk, Iowa. He migrated to California in 1852 and then to Idaho in 1864. He remained in Idaho City for 25 years, then moved to La Grande in 1889 to work mines near the headwaters of the Grande Ronde River. He constructed this building in 1898 at a cost of $5,000.00. A candy factory operated in the building from at least 1903 to 1923. he building, designed by Calvin Thornton, has Romanesque Revival elements.
