Description
Français : Plage et falaise de La Franqui, près du Cap Leucate (Aude). Carte postale publiée vers 1902-1905 (la photo peut être plus ancienne).


Henry de Monfreid (1879-1974) passa toute sa jeune enfance, puis par la suite de nombreux étés, dans cette petite station balnéaire où la famille de sa mère exploitait un établissement pour vacanciers. "La perspective de la rentrée flétrissait toutes mes joies, qui s'en allaient, en ces jours d'automne, comme tombent les feuilles jaunies. Partir, m'en aller sans esprit de retour sur cette mer aujourd'hui toute bleue, qui semblait me sourire... m'appeler. Ce n'est pas en vain que fut inventé le mythe des sirènes." (Le Feu de Saint-Elme, p. 50. Monfreid avait alors plus de 90 ans)
