Description The monument, with a total height of 47 meters, contains a spiral staircase of 193 steps. It is surmounted by a statue of 4 feet 70 in height, representing the first king of the Belgians, Leopold I, the sculptor Jean Geefs. The unknown soldier was buried at the foot of the column between the two lions, on November 11 1922.
