t de lart décoratif, lorganisme du monumentest du moyen âge, depuis la coupole pour laquelle ona été inspiré par celle de lAbbaye de Chiaravalle, plussimple et plus ancienne, jusquaux pinacles qui terminentles contreforts et le faîte des toits élancés et pointus dansleur couverture conique, jusquaux fenêtres et aux judasgénéralement arqués à plein centre et à ébrasement pro-fond et presque toujours ornés de terres-cuites à modéna-tures ou en torsades. Dans les corniches de couronnement, aux éléments quisentent le moyen âge, sajoutent des motifs dun stylenouveau quon retrouve aussi dans quelques chapiteaux;mais ce sont des détails insignifiants qui ne diminuenten rien lunité de style de ce monument. Dans les frontsdu transept et des tribunes, on voit parmi les devisesdes Visconti et des Sforza les tisons avec les seaux,devise préférée de Galéas Marie Sforza, ce qui fait croireque léglise fut achevée avant lassassinat de ce prince(26 décembre 1476). BENEDETTO BRIOSCO (n. a Pavia (?) dans la seconde moitié du xvc siècle ; m. après 1506) : Le portail de la façade. Ce portail qui savance sur le front, de sorte quil formeune espèce de prothyron avec ses colonnes en marbreblanc de Saluées, lisses et accouplées, possède une sigrande force organique, quil révèle sa tendance au grandart du Bramante et quil rappelle plus particulièrement leportail du modèle de la Cathédrale de Pavie. BenedettoBriosco, à qui il fut alloué en 1501, voulut couper la blan-cheur par des disques de porphyre qui flanquent larc,et latténuer par de riches sculptures décoratives pro-duisant un effet délicat de lumières et dombres. Avant lui, Amadeo avait sculpté sur le socle des scènesde la vie de S1 Brun, qui sont très endommagées.
