Realizada en cantera rosa y hierro forjado, esta singular fuente de barrocas formas fue concebida por el filántropo citadino don Federico Sescosse L., e inaugurada en el año 1958. Originalmente, en el lugar estuvo una gran cruz (s. XVI), luego una ornamental fuente (s. XIX) y por último, de 1898 a 1949 estuvo el monumento del Gral. J. Jesús González Ortega, el cual fue trasladado al parque Gral. Enrique Estada. La inspiración para esta fuente fue otra que se localiza en una plaza junto a la catedral de Sevilla, en la se supone reposan los restos de Cristóbal Colón (Description by Gobierno del Estado de Zacatecas, Mexico)
