Description |
Outdoor portrait of Ruth Burns. Date unknown, but must be between 1952 (when the Burns' arrived back at Lincoln) and 1966 (when Blackmore died); the hair and clothing indicate about 1955. The wife of Malcolm Burns, principal 1952–1974. Ruth Burns was a significant figure on campus during her time at Lincoln and afterwards. She wrote and illustrated a history of Ivey Hall and painted a mural that was on display in the foyer of the Hilgendorf Wing for many years. It was largely due to her efforts and determination that Ivey Hall was saved from demolition and restored in a major project in the late 1980s. |
