Summary

[edit]
Description
English: DM No.16 of LT 1986 Experimental Stock Stock 2-car emu built by Metro-Cammell (Washwood Heath) for the deep level tube lines. LT ordered 3 trains each composed of two 2-car units to the same basic design with innovative construction techniques and to test different electrical equipment, seating layouts, materials etc - the Red, Green and Blue trains, built in 1986. The first two trains were built by Metro-Camm and the Blue by BREL (Derby). They could work together and operate in 4 , 6 or 8 car formations. In the event, they usually operated in 6 car formations and were tested in service on the Jubillee Line in 1988-89. After that they were stored then scrapped in 1996 except for No.16. The Blue train was deemed most successful and formed the basis of the 1992 Stock for the Central and Waterloo & City Lines. At the London Transport Acton Depot Museum, 25 September 2021.
