Description
English: The LPD-22 USS San Diego amphibious transport dock was recently moved to the drydock last week around the 24th or 25th of April 2010 at Northrop Grumman Ship Systems Ingalls Operation in Pascagoula,Mississippi.The ship is 684ft long,Beam:105ft,Draught:23ft.Four turbocharged Colt-Pielstick diesel engines with two shafts producing 41,600shp.Speed:In excess of 22 kts.Boats and landing craft carried: 2× LCACs or 1× LCU conventional and 14× Expeditionary Fighting Vehicles Complement: Crew: 28 officers, 333 enlisted.--Alan Hinkel (talk) 06:34, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Landing force: 66 officers, 633 enlisted Armament: 2× Bushmaster II 30 mm Close in Guns 2× Rolling Airframe Missile launchers Several twin M2 Browning Machine Gun turrets Aircraft carried: The San Diego can deploy and land up to four CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters; or up to two MV-22 Osprey tilt rotor aircraft simultaneously with room to spare.It holds four MV-22s on deck and one in the hangar. edit
