Description
English: The Stanier Princess Coronation class was the premier LMS express passenger design, with 38 being built between 1937 and 1948.

'Duchess of Sutherland' was built in 1938 as No 6233 and was never streamlined like some of the class. Renumbered as 46233 under British Railways, she remained in service until 1964, after which she went on static display at Butlins Holiday Camp in Scotland. Bought privately in 1996, she returned to mainline running in 2001. Until recently she wore a BR lined green livery, but has now been repainted in her original pre-grouping LMS colours, and looks absolutely fantastic! She is seen hauling the ‘The Lindum Fayre’, an annual railtour from Kings Cross to Lincoln. This year, I caught the ‘Lindum’ just before she turned off the East Coast Main Line at Werrington Junction, Peterborough.
