Description

Photos from the August 15, 2012 Precision Ag and Sustainable Water Management Workshop in Spink County, SD. About 45 people attended of which most were producers and/or ag service representatives. The tour featured Dave Mendel’s Farm near Doland, SD, and his conservation work with Native Grass Establishment Techniques and Cover Crops; and, Benefits as a Sustainable Agricultural Options. Justin Fruechte and Jason Tronbak of Millborn Seeds provided information. The Rainfall Simulator Demonstration with Cover Crops/Native Grasses was presented by Eric Barsness, NRCS Conservation Agronomist, Brookings. Agricultural Drainage: Fundamentals, Benefits, and Impacts was presented by Chris Hay, SDSU Extension Water Mgt. Specialist, Brookings. Lunch was sponsored by Spink County Conservation District and Millborn Seeds. After lunch, Precision Agriculture Techniques: Sustaining Today’s Agriculture was presented by Kurt Reitsma, SDSU Ext. Precision Ag Specialist, Brookings and Precision Ag + Nutrient Management, Working Together for the Environment and Your Bottom Line was presented by John Lentz, NRCS Resource Conservationist, Mitchell.
