Description Der Westhafen in Berlin Moabit ist der größte Hafen der Stadt. Nach ersten Planungen aus dem Jahr 1900 wurde 1914 mit dem Bau begonnen. 1923 wurde die BEHALA als Betreiber gegründet, welche im gleichen Jahr den ersten Teil in Betrieb nahm. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg waren 60 % der Hafenanlagen zerstört. Bis 1950 wurden die Schäden beseitigt und der Westhafen anschließend für den Umschlag zwischen Binnenschiff, Eisenbahn und Lastwagen weiter ausgebaut. Bis zur Wiedervereinigung Berlins dienten die Anlagen auch der für Krisenzeiten angelegten Senatsreserve.
