HEB Buddy at the LBJ Library The LBJ Future Forum hosted its fourth annual Easter Egg Roll on the lawn of the LBJ Presidential Library on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Participants included children served by Partnerships for Children, a nonprofit group that provides critical resources to abused and neglected children who are in the care of the Child Protective Services system in Central Texas. The LBJ Library Easter Egg Roll is inspired by the White House’s Easter Egg Roll, an annual family event to hunt and race for Easter Eggs on the White House South Lawn. The holiday tradition dates to 1878, when President Rutherford B. Hayes opened the White House grounds to local children for egg rolling on Easter Monday. Successive presidents have continued the tradition of inviting children to the White House Lawn for egg rolling and other activities and entertainment. LBJ Library photo by Jay Godwin 04/15/2017 |
