| Description |
English: On 5 June 1965 50 LARC-5 (Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo) 5 ton, self propelled amphibous lighters made a seven mile trip to shore from the USNS Comet. The first of this type vehicle to be used in southeast Asia. It will be utilized by the 344th Amphibious Transportation Company Qui Nhon to transport personnel, cargo and supplies from ship to supply point direct. Here LARC-5s are seen maneuvering in the water while waiting to be loaded with cargo from USNS Comet.
