Homodimer of TGFb1 and its prodomain.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: TGFb forms a homodimer where the actual TGFb growth factor (green colors) is surrounded by a cage formed by the prodomain, called LAP (magenta colors). The two growth factors of the homodimer (light and dark green) are hold together by several disulfid bridges in the central cysteine knot. The cage of the two LAP proteins (birght and dark magenta) is hold together at its uppest part by a disulfid bridge. The helices in the lowest part are coupled to other proteins (not shown) by additional disulfid bridges. Based on PDB ID 3VI4.
