Notes 1891-92 besuchten und beschrieben die östereichischen Orientalist Rudolf Heberdey und Adolf Wilhelm den Ort: Eine Stunde nordöstlich von Mersina erhebt sich isolirt aus dem plattigen Gestein der Ebene der Direkli-Tasch (Langlois Yoyage 239, 253 ff.; wir glaubten mehrmals Dikeli-Tasch zu hören), ein anscheinend aus dem gewachsenen Felsen künstlich hergestelltes Steinprisma (ca. 10 M. hoch, 4-25 X 2 M. Grundfläche, die Langseite nach 230° orientirt), dessen rauh bearbeitete Seitenflächen weder Inschrift noch Relief tragen. Spuren menschlicher Arbeit zeigt auch der Felsboden der Umgegend, meist viereckige Vertiefungen im Fels, die sich wohl aus der Gewinnung von Quadern erklären, ohne dass man auf eine eigentliche Niederlassung zu schliessen brauchte; sichere Anzeichen einer Strasse fehlen.
