Title
LANCUM-032EC1: Late post-medieval pipe tamper
Description
English: Cast cu-alloy pipe tamper dating from the later post-medieval or early modern period, i.e. c. 1700-1900. It is complete and in good condition, depicting a standing, classically draped female with a naked child crouching by her feet, holding on to the hem of her dress. The woman also displays a classical hairdo and although the child does not show any wings, it is possible that these two are the Roman goddess of love and beauty, Venus, and her son, the winged child Cupid.
