| Description |
English: L.M.S. Stanier Class "8F" 2-8-0 No.8274 in 1939 wartime unlined varnished black livery entering Barrow Hill Roundhouse, 26 September 2015. No.8274 was built by North British (Works No.24648) in 1940 for the War Department as an "interim austerity" loco and numbered by them 348; however, it was initially loaned to the L.M.S. as their No.8274 but after only a few weeks was taken back by the WD who shipped it to France to haul supplies for the British Expeditionary Force. The Fall of France resulted in it being stranded but after the war it was sold to Turkey as No.45160. It was repatriated to the UK in 1989 for restoration by the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway. |
