Description
Deutsch: Léonard Defrance (1735–1805): Aufhebung der Klöster. Im Hintergrund Notre-Dame und das Hôtel de Ville in Paris. Im Haus rechts Modegeschäfte. Die imaginierte Statue Ludwigs XVI. wurde vom Künstler nach dessen Hinrichtung 1793 mit einer Göttin der Vernunft übermalt. Anstelle der Steinblöcke im Vordergrund war ursprünglich ein kolossaler Fuss als Symbol des vom Volk gestürzten Despotismus zu sehen. Öl auf Holz, 69 x 86 cm. Privatbesitz.
