Son chef-dœuvre serait le mo-nument élevé à Paris (et achevé en 1647) à la gloire deLouis XIII et de Louis XIV dont il reste, au Louvre,les deux belles statues en bronze, du roi (fig. 81) etdAnne dAutriche (fig. 82). On voit aussi, de cet ar-tiste distingué, de bonnes figures décoratives à Saint-Gervais : Saint Gervais et Saint Protais; dautre part,le Louvre conserve de lui : le Mausolée de Charlotte-Catherine de La Trémoille (fig. 83), autrefois aucouvent des filles de lAve-Maria, page de grandeallure. Simon Guillain sest employé, enfin, à divers travauxdornementation, notamment à laSorbonneet à Saint-Gervais (les Evangélistes au fronton et aux angles duportail).
