BADE. 13 couvert la Maison de Conversation, — cest ainsi que, daprès unvieil usage et une routine modeste, on nomme le palais des plai-sirs de Bade. Là se trouvent réunis, par une heureuse distribu-tion, un restaurant, un café, une galerie pour les fumeurs, devastes et brillants salons pour les jeux, les bals et les concerts, uncabinet de lecture, un théâtre. Devant ce palais est une terrasseornée de beaux orangers; cest là quon se promène le soir. Dansla journée, les allées offrent aux promeneurs dépais ombragespour les garantir contre les ardeurs du soleil, et de nombreusesboutiques, où des marchands de tous pays apportent des objetsvariés et curieux : des étoffes, des tableaux, des cigares de la Ha-vane, des toiles de Hongrie, des cristaux de Bohême, des bijouxde Paris, des horloges de la Forêt-Noire.
