日本語: 京都市立芸術大学は，1880年に日本初の公立の絵画専門学校として開設された京都府画学校を母体とする日本で最も長い歴史を持つ芸術大学です。
1889年に京都府画学校は市に移管され，その後，市立絵画専門学校，市立美術専門学校と変遷を経て，1950年に市立美術大学となります。一方，1952年にやはり全国初の公立音楽大学として京都市立音楽短期大学が設置されます。この二つの大学が1969年に統合され，京都市立芸術大学となりました。 2000年には歴史文化都市・京都にふさわしい日本伝統音楽の研究機関として日本伝統音楽研究センターを設置し，２学部・１研究所という今日の体制になりました。 美術と音楽を両軸とする本学は，文化首都・京都に蓄積された豊かな美の伝統を背景に，建学以来130年以上にわたって，国内外の芸術界・産業界で活躍する優れた人材を輩出し，わが国のみならず世界の芸術文化に貢献しています。 |
