[edit]DescriptionKylis of the Mythical Symposium - Painter of London E 2.JPG |
English: Dionysos and Heracles banqueted together in the wild settings of the myth. They drank pure wine from the ritual kantharos, a liberte beverage that allowed men to shed their owns identities for a time but which could also lead to madeness. Only gods and heroes could imbibe that liquid fire without risk. Mere mortals had to mix it with water and drink from cups in the company of other males, in the context of the symposium, as Dionysos taugth them. Kylx of the Painter of London E 2. Attica. Inv. number 11266. 500-490 BC. National Archaeological Museum of Spain (MAN). Nº inv. 11266. 500-490 a. C. Museo Arqueológico Nacional de España (MAN). |
