Description

Картина «Битва на Куликовом поле», автор: Васнецов Виктор Михайлович

Изображено сражение русских дружин с татарским войском. Русские, в доспехах, под стягом с образом Спаса, идущие строем, в первом ряду – сам князь, сминают татарских воинов. В центре слева - монах Троице-Сергиева монастыря Андрей Ослябя, в рясе, без доспехов, высоко подняв над головой оружие. В 1380 г русские войска под предводительством московского князя Дмитрия Ивановича разбили армию Мамая. После этого сражения князь Дмитрий стал именоваться Донским. Победа на Куликовом поле, в верховьях реки Дон, стала началом освобождения Руси от ига Золотой Орды. В.М.Васнецов выполнил в период 1-ой Мировой войны несколько работ на военно-патриотические темы, обратившись к прошлому, к летописным и историческим персонажам, наделяя их эпическими чертами былинных героев.
