Description
English: Sitting statue of Kūkai (774–835), a Japanese monk, scholar, poet, and artist, founder of the Shingon or "True Word" school of Buddhism. Chikurin-Temple, Yoshino-san (Nara prefecture, Japan). Statues of Kukai in this pose can be found in various sizes all over Japan.
Deutsch: Statue des sitzenden Kūkai (774–835), Mönch, Gelehrter, Poet und Künstler, Begründer der buddhistischen Schule des Wahren Worts (Shingon shū) in Japan. Figuren von Kūkai in dieser Pose finden sich in verschiedenen Größen überall in Japan.
