Description

The temple idol represents the god it was dedicated to. This is Ku, the chief Hawaiian god, in his form as the god of war - Kukailimoku, meaning "Ku, Snatcher of Land."

Interestingly, this heiau was originally dedicated to a fertility and agricultural goddess. Which is probably some sort of comment on something.

(Actually, heiau were often rededicated to new gods, depending on the needs of the time, or if it was felt the temple had lost its power.)
