English: ‘Theyyam’ is a religious ritualistic art-form of Kerala and ‘Kshetrapalakan Theyyam’ depicts the son of ’Kalarivathukkal Bhagavati’ (Incarnation of Hindu Goddess Durga). It is celebrated as mostly annual festivals in ‘Kaavu’ (another sect of temples in northern region of Kerala, India) where humans from a particular section of society dress up as Gods and people come to seek blessings from their deities. The entire festive period is considered as holy and people from all communities gather together as a symbol of unity. The picture above was shot from ‘Kalarivathukkal Temple’ in Kannur, Kerala, India during the annual ‘Kaliyattam’ (Theyyam festival)
