Jardin de sculptures du Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal 'Kosso Eloul, sculpteur (Mourom, URSS, 22 janv. 1920 -- Toronto, Ont., 8 nov. 1995). Eloul entreprend des études d'art à Tel Aviv en 1938 et les poursuit en 1939 à l'Art Institute de Chicago où il est l'élève de Frank Lloyd Wright, puis à la Chicago School of Design, où il étudie avec Laszlo Moholy-Nagy. Après avoir servi dans l'armée pendant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale et la guerre d'indépendance en Palestine, il revient à l'art en 1948. En 1959, il représente Israël à la 29e biennale de Venise. À la suite du premier Symposium de sculpture organisé en Yougoslavie, en 1961, il organise un événement semblable dans le désert du Néguev en 1962. C'est là qu'il commence à travailler à la première d'une longue série de conférences internationales sur la SCULPTURE. Il s'installe de façon permanente à Toronto en 1969 et est l'élément moteur de la 10e Conférence sur la sculpture qui y a lieu en 1978. Les sculptures monumentales caractéristiques d'Eloul ornent les places publiques de nombreuses villes canadiennes. Ses rectangles brillants d'aluminium ou d'acier inoxydable poli sont placés en équilibre instable selon des angles inusités, défiant les lois de la pesanteur.
