Animal characteristics: Height: 1.2 m; Weight: 22.7 kg; Identification: The kori bustard has dull gray to brown feathers, white undersides, and a brown feather topknot; Habitat: Grasslands and semi-deserts; Diet: Omnivore: plants, insects, small mammals, snakes; Reproduction: The female can lay up to 14 eggs for each season. She cares for them on her own. Fledging occurs at 56 weeks; Social Structure: Kori bustards can be found in small groups; Behavior: Kori bustards are diurnal; Status: No special status; Interesting Facts: Although kori bustards are capable of flight, scientists are considering classifying them as flightless birds because they spent so much time on the ground.
