Summary
[edit]DescriptionKorea's Natural Monument 514 (4289235709).jpg |
Newly designed natural monuments: A community forest in Docheon-ri, Yeongdeok-gun in Gyeongsangbuk-do. When the village was formed 400 years ago, this forest was believed to protect the village against the snake-shaped mountain. Remains of shamanic rituals can be found in the forest and carry cultural and folkloric values. In December 2009, the Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea designated a community forest in Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do and two trees in Naju-si, Jeollanam-do, as natural ,monuments numbered 514, 515 and 516, respectively. They are considered to be deeply connected with the daily lives of ancient Koreans. |
