Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A piece of a wall with the remains of some tile decoration. I found it named and described: "AHMET EFLAKİ DEDE TOMB Artifact of Karamanoğulları Period. The building, which is attributed to Ahmet Eflâki Dede, one of the Mevlevi elders, is located in the east of the Mevlana Kulliye, adjacent to the burial wall. It is understood from the surviving remains that it was an iwan tomb with a rectangular plan. When the Çelebi mansions around the tomb were demolished, the building was exposed and its surroundings were turned into a rose garden. The north and west walls of the rectangular planned structure in the north-south direction are still standing, while the eastern wall has been partially collapsed and the south wall has been demolished up to the foundation level. The floor is accepted as the floor of the funeral, and there are five lime-plastered sarcophagi here. On the surviving walls, irregular stones and bricks were used as construction materials, glazed bricks, purple and turquoise colored geometric tiles were used as decoration materials. Since most of the tile decorations were shed, very few of them have survived to the present day. The tombstone of Mevlevi Eflâki Ahmet Dede, who died in 1360, was found in the tomb, so the tomb was attributed to him. Halûk Karamağaralı and Emine Karpuz, who made sounding and excavation works on the structure, stated that the tomb with an iwan plan was built in the XIII. late XIV century. They are of the opinion that it belongs to the beginning of the century and that Eflâki Dede's tombstone was placed here later."
