Deze foto is van dinsdag 20 november 1945: Prinsjesdag. De vorstin vertrekt vh Binnenhof. Koningin W.: "De stoet was geheel aangepast aan de tijdsomstandigheden. Wij gingen per auto. De auto werd geëscorteerd door de B.S. (binnenlandse strijdkrachten) in donkerblauwe overall, en de onderdelen van leger, vloot en luchtmacht droegen slechts battledress (de "vechtjas"). Naar mijn oordeel de mooiste opening der Staten Generaal die er ooit geweest is. Doch ik sta hierin vrijwel alleen." Als het aan de koningin had gelegen, was de Gouden Koets in 1945 voorgoed op stal gereden. (ook in 1946 kwam zij per auto naar Prinsjesdag). Tot haar teleurstelling wilde het Nederlandse volk haar weer in de Gouden Koets zien. Maar voor haarzelf zou het er niet meer van komen: in 1947 liet zij zich - door ziekte - vertegenwoordigen door haar dochter die, in 1948, als pas gekroonde koningin weer met de Gouden Koets naar het Binnenhof ging |
