Les matériaux utilisés, cornes, poils, défenses d'animaux, sont considérés comme magiques. Le sang sacrificiel des animaux augmente l'efficacité magique de ces masques. Cependant on ne sais pas si ces masques ont été jamais utilisés dans un cadre rituel.
