English: Contemporary drawing of the meteorite fall at Knyahinya (Ukraine) on June 9, 1866. From the resultiong meteorite shower, many meteorites totalling ~500kg were recovered. The largest stone, which broke into three pieces on impact, weighted 279kg. I is now on display in the Natuiral History Museum in Vienna, Austria.
Deutsch: Zeitgenössische Darstellung des Meteoritenfalls von Knyahinya (Ukraine) am 9. Juni 1866. Nach dem Meteoritenschauer konnten Meteorite im Gesamtgewicht von ~500kg geborgen werden. Der größte Stein, der beim Aufschlag in drei Teile zerbracht, hatte ein Gewicht von 279kg. Er wird heute im Naturhistorischen Museum in Wien aufbewahrt. |
