Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Knowlhill Farm near Middle Claydon Knowlhill farm is relatively isolated at the end of 1.5km farm road called Three Points Lane that comes from the C road between Botolph Claydon and Calvert. This farm, and Muxwell Hill Farm to the east, owe their location to the enclosure of land carried out by Sir Edmund Verney in the early 17th century. Enclosure was the division of large open fields into privately controlled plots of land surrounded by hedges, often done unilaterally by landowners. This invariably resulted in a loss of grazing and other rights for villagers, and the gradual dispersal of farmsteads away from a village into the relative isolation of the new enclosures.
