Description
English: The Knowledge Activist Project at Edinburgh College was led by Sara Thomas (Scotland Programme Coordinator, Wikimedia UK) and Debbie Miller (UAL Foundation Diploma Art and Design Staff). Students worked online in small groups to research underrepresented artists and publish their findings on Wikipedia in the correct format if this met the required criteria. Students and staff found this process of supporting a global community of knowledge empowering and enlightening. This project developed into an opportunity for interested students to produce and publish an artwork in response to an existing Wikimedia Commons artwork as an educational resource. Edinburgh College hope to continue developing this project with support from Sara during the next academic session and beyond.
