Description
Deutsch: Gedenkstein am Kloster Schwarzenbroich zwischen Schevenhütte und Düren im Hürtgenwald.

Laut einer Infotafel ist er diesem Text beschriftet:

Übersetzung der Inschrift der Tafel:
Im Jahre 1340 erschien der Apostel Matthias dem erlauchten Herrn
Werner von Merode als dieser von der Jagd ermüdet schlief;
er sprach zu ihm folgende Worte:

Kennt Ihr mich nicht Werner?
Ich bin Matthias der Apostel Christi, ich komme,
Euch den Willen Gottes zu verkünden.
Ihr sollt an dieser Stelle mir zu Ehre eine
Kirche bauen und ein Kloster, in welchem Mönche aus
dem Orden, in dem diese hier in ihrem Leben gewesen
sind, Gott und mir dienen.

So erzählt die Chronik des Ordens.
Heinrich, Graf von Merode und seine Gemahlin Nathalie (?) Prinzessin von Croy
erneuerten dieses Denkmal im Jahre 1896
