Description
Nederlands: De Klever Tor in Xanten, komende van APX.

De stad Xanten ligt aan de Nederrijn in het noordwesten van Nordrhein-Westfalen. De Klever Tor is een dubbele toren in de stadsomwalling. Hij werd in 1393 gebouwd.

In de negentiende eeuw werden de meeste waltorens afgebroken, maar de Klever Tor ontliep dit lot. Hij werd in de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw als gevangenis gebruikt.

De Klever tor bestaat uit twee torens die met een brug verbonden zijn.

Die Stadt Xanten [ˈksantən] liegt am unteren Niederrhein im Nordwesten Nordrhein-Westfalens.

Das Klever Tor ist ein 1393 erbautes Doppeltor in Xanten am Niederrhein.

Es war Teil der mittelalterlichen Stadtbefestigung, von der später weite Teile aus Kostengründen abgerissen wurden. Nachdem bereits 1821 das „Marstor“ und 1825 das „Scharntor“ abgerissen worden waren lehnte der Xantener Stadtrat 1843 den Abbruch des Klever Tors jedoch ab. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt wurde es als Arresthaus benutzt.

Das Klever Tor besteht aus zwei Toren, die über eine Brücke miteinander verbunden sind.
