| Description |
English: Kite-flying among the cairns on Rippon Tor. The kite's out of sight, although you might just spot the white strings. Looking from the main summit cairn (some 28 metres across) past the rock shown in 621999, and then three cairns, the first of them small, the other two measuring something like 20 metres across. The major features in the distance are Denbury Down (the wooded hill to the left), and Berry Head jutting out to sea. One is tempted to suggest that, because of the size and alignment of these cairns, they were a marine navigational tool. |
