English: Kirchseeoner Perchtenlauf 2023-2024 - the carver Herbert Schafbauer created a mask with the central idea of the black arches butterfly, which is featured in the Kirchseeon coat of arms. An infestation of the butterfly in the adjacent forests had a significant impact on the history of the Kirchseeon community in the 19th century. The Kirchseeoner Perchtenlauf is a winter parade tradition in which a group of differently masked figures moves through the community of Kirchseeon and performs dances, songs and sayings. The Kirchseeoner Perchten represent lucky charms that ring in the new year and the new growing season. The custom has been registered in the Bavarian State Directory of Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2022. On March 13, 2024, the German UNESCO Commission decided to include the Kirchseeoner Perchtenlauf in the German register of intangible cultural heritage. |
