Deutsch: Kirche in Weitersdof Kunsthistorisch bemerkenswert ist die Weitersdorfer Kapelle (Missionskirche). Seit der Gründung im späten 12. Jh. war das kleine turmlose romanische Gebäude die Kirche des später wüst gewordenen Dorfes. Der Grundriss zeigt die typische Staffelung der spätromanischen Dorfkirchen in Thüringen: An den Saal (Langhaus) mit 7,5 m Länge und 5,5 m Breite schließt sich östlich das Chorrechteck an (2,8 m x 3,5 m), den Abschluss bildet eine 2,5 m breite, halbrunde Apsis. Die aus Großquaderwerk errichtet Kirche hat einen abgestuften Westgiebel, die West- und Nordseite sind fensterlos. Noch aus romanischer Zeit stammen die kleinen Vierpassfenster an der Ostseite der Apsis und ein Rundbogenfenster an der Südseite des Altarraumes. Im Jahre 1644 wurde der Bau neu ausgestattet. Der Chorteil erhielt eine tonnenförmige Holzdecke, das Obergeschoß des Chorrechtecks wurde in Fachwerkbauweise höher als ursprünglich errichtet, so dass der Dachfirst heute den des Langhauses überragt. Das Langhaus erhielt eine hölzerne Empore im nördlichen und westlichen Teil des Saales. Bei Restaurierungsarbeiten in jüngster Zeit entfernte man die tonnenförmige Holzdecke aus der Barockzeit im Chor, führte jedoch den Aufbau über dem Chor nicht auf das ursprüngliche Maß zurück. An das Langhaus schließt sich das von Triumph- und Chorbogen begrenzte Chorrechteck an. Den östlichen Abschluss bildet eine mit kleinen Vierpaßfenster und Lichtschlitz versehene Apsis. Die heutige Gestalt geht auf Umbauten des 17. Jhd. zurück. Damals erhielten Langhaus und Chor größere Fenster, das Dach des Chorraumes wurde gehoben und der Fachwerkgiebel gebaut. Von dem Baukörper ist die Apsis in ursprünglicher Form erhalten. Nachdem bereits 1957 Reparaturen durchgeführt worden waren, erfolgte seit 1983 eine umfassende Restaurierung. Baustil: Romanisch Bemerkenswert: Vor der kleinen Dorfkirche steht eines der größten Steinkreuze Thüringens, ein gotisches Kreuz mit einer Gestalt, wohl eines Bischofs. Einige Grabsteine sind in der Umgebung zu sehen. |
