Description
Deutsch: Evangelische Kirche Elsey in Hohenlimburg, Elseyer Kirchplatz. An der linken Seite des Chorraumes befindet sich das Gumprecht-Epitaph. Es zeigt eine Gestalt, die Graf Konrad Gumprecht von Bentheim-Tecklenburg und Limburg, geb. am 10. März 1585 und gestorben am 10. März 1618, darstellen soll. Das Werk (6 x 3,5 m) aus der Übergangszeit zwischen Renaissance und Frühbarock wurde 1619 im Auftrag von Konrad Gumprechts Frau Johannetta Elisabeth, geb. Gräfin von Nassau-Dillenburg, in Münster von dem Bildhauer Johann von Bocholt († 1636) angefertigt. Die zwei großen Säulen neben der Schrifttafel bestehen aus schwarzem Carrara-Marmor, die übrigen Teile meist aus Anröchter Sandstein. Die Grablege befindet sich im Chorraum unterhalb des Epitaphs.
