| Description |
English: Kinvarra - Dunguaire Castle This is a small castle built in 1520 by the O'Hynes clan. The castle passed into the hands of the Martyn's of Galway in the early 17th century. Richard Martyn, Mayor of Galway, lived here until 1642. Oliver St John Gogarty bought & repaired the castle in 1924. Christobel Lady Amptill acquired the castle in 1954 and completed the restoration. Subsequently, the castle became a property of Shannon Development. This castle was used as a location for a segment of the John Tesh DVD "One World". Today, literary banquests are held here. |
