Summary
[edit]DescriptionKings Arms, Grains Bar - geograph.org.uk - 225658.jpg |
English: The Kings Arms pub at Grains Bar, Greater Manchester, England. Grains Bar is a hamlet that spans the conventional boundaries of Oldham, Saddleworth and Shaw and Crompton, and is divided amongst these three areas accordingly; it emerged as a Toll Bar, where merchants were required to pay tax. Before the reformation of county boundaries in 1974, Grains Bar lay on the boundary between Lancashire and the West Riding of Yorkshire, and a beam runs through the middle of the The Kings Arms to mark this. Today the pub stands wholly within the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, in Greater Manchester. |
