Summary
[edit]DescriptionKing of Na gold seal faces.jpg |
English: Seal face of the King of Na gold seal, with its mirror image on the right side.
The mirror-inverted version allows one to read the characters ( 漢委奴國王 ) normally. Engraved upon the gold seal are the Chinese characters 漢委奴國王 (Kan no Wa no Na-no-Koku-ō, "King of the Na state of the Wa (vassal) of Han". "Wa" is an ancient name of Japan. "Na" was Nakoku (奴国); a state that existed in and around the area of Fukuoka City in Kyushu during the Yayoi period.[1]日本語: 漢委奴国王印。後漢が奴国の朝貢使に贈ったとされる。
