Description
English: King Street, Reading, looking westwards, c. 1893. On the left, part of No. 25 (Botly and Lewis, jewellers); the sign at No. 9 (Edwin Moore and Sons, tailors); the corner of Minster Street; No. 134 Broad Street (Hounslow and Company, grocers); Nos. 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, and 132 Broad Street (Wellsteed, Son and Company, drapers and ladies' outfitters). On the right, Nos. 4 and 5 King Street (John and Charles Simonds and Company, bankers); nos. 1 and 2 (Loveridge and Company, ironmongers). The gas-lamp on the left has the street name painted on the glass of its lantern. 1890-1899 : postcard with caption "King Street, 1887" by Berkshire County Library.
