Summary
[edit]DescriptionKing Charles House on New Street - geograph.org.uk - 840581.jpg |
English: King Charles House on New Street At the northern end of New Street is one of Worcester's most historic buildings. After his defeat in the Battle of Worcester in 1651, King Charles II made his escape through the back door of this house and on to exile in France, closely pursued by Cromwell's army. Now an attractive restaurant, which has a dungeon in which Judge William Berkeley supposedly kept his victims who awaited trial. The shop to the left is Kitz Models & Hobbies (recently moved from Fish Street), which is a great place to explore, particularly for model railway enthusiasts.
