Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, 1935. King Alla of the West Bank arrives.

Original caption:

"King Alla of the West Bank arrives during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Written on photograph: "New Orleans Mardi Gras. Alla, King of the Port, arrives. With his cohorts of the sea, King Alla of the West Bank has restored to New Orleans one of the high color spots which faded from the rainbow of the New Orleans Mardi Gras during the World War. At High Noon on the Monday preceeding Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1936... next Mardi Gras.. Alla will arrive from "somewhere around the Sargaso Sea" with an imposing marine pageant on the grand old man of the rivers and after landing will parade around the West Bank and preside over a sumptuous ball."
